Neolithic hot tub . . . or DIY sheep dip tank?
Downhill view, the outlet hole is at the bottom of the far wall.
Further research suggests that this may be a twelfth-century bath carved by the monks of the order of the Knights of St Lazarus who established a leper hospital to the north of what is now Harehope Farm (presumably the flat area, visible in this picture, over the stone wall, next to the farm buildings). It has also been suggested that the bath may have been used as a juniper press; there are juniper trees in the area.
