The Wey Navigation, frozen over
View upstream towards the bridge carrying the Pyrford-Ripley road. Behind the camera, the navigation was frozen over as far as Newark Lock and a little beyond.
The long, low building must once have been an out-building of Newark Mill, which was destroyed by fire in 1966.
TQ0457 : The River Wey Navigation, at the site of the former Newark Mill (3) shows the same stretch of canal - but looking downstream from a point near the bridge, and in milder January conditions.
