Behind the offices and clock tower, and only partly visible in this view from the south end of Platform 6 of Derby Midland Station, is the Roundhouse of 1839-40, probably the oldest surviving railway engine shed in the country. Since restoration and adaptation completed in 2009 it has been occupied by Derby College.
