SP0499 : Walsall/Aldridge Airfield

taken 19 years ago, near to Aldridge, Walsall, England

Walsall/Aldridge Airfield
Walsall/Aldridge Airfield
Another WW2 airfield lost to aviation - used until the late 1960's for general aviation. Now an open space used for football, dogwalking and the buzz of radio controlled aircraft. In the foreground is a large concrete circle that I assume was either a gun emplacement or aircraft hardstanding. Hidden in the trees on the skyline left is an old hangar and to the right used to be the remains of possibly a control tower, long since demolished.
