Looking upstream towards Harbour Road, from near Falcon House. There is no sign of silting due to the high state of the tide.
New Harbour Paisley

New Harbour is on White Cart Water on the north side of Paisley, around 750 metres downstream from Paisley Harbour.

Both harbours have been derelict and disused since the late 1960s at which time dredging of the river and the River Cart which connects it to the Clyde ceased. Shipbuilding on the river ceased around the same period.

The quays and bollards at New Harbour are still intact, but the river is badly silted and is navigable only by small craft.

There are ambitious plans LinkExternal link to regenerate this stretch of the river, plans which include new bridges spanning the river at each end of the New Harbour to provide improved links from Paisley town centre to Glasgow Airport.
