Cartmel

Cartmel is a village in Cumbria, approximately 2 miles to the north-west of Grange-over-Sands and close to the River Eea in a quiet valley in one of England’s most outstanding areas of natural beauty. Offering stunning views of the South Lakeland District fells and countryside, Cartmel has grown up around its famous 12th Century mediæval Priory Church and was once known as Kirkby in Cartmel. Historically in Lancashire, boundary changes brought it into the newly created county of Cumbria in 1974.
