NZ0416 : Barnard Castle Weir on the River Tees

taken 7 years ago, near to Barnard Castle, County Durham, England

Barnard Castle Weir on the River Tees
Barnard Castle Weir on the River Tees
The original weir, built in 1963 (see NZ0416 : River Tees) was replaced in 2014. The new structure incorporates a Larinier fish pass (between the two concrete walls nearest the camera) which allows salmon to migrate upstream to breed and downstream to the sea.
