Bridgend Farmhouse
A late 18thC farmhouse at Craigmillar. It was empty and derelict for 17 years, unlisted but on the Buildings at Risk Register LinkExternal link. At my first visit it was covered in scaffolding and in process of being renovated for community use as part of a volunteer project to encourage learning, exercise and eating LinkExternal link [it is adjacent to the Bridgend Community AllotmentsLinkExternal link ] . 18 months on and the project is almost finished. It was open for use in March 2018 and is now a community hub, a meeting place with community café, workshops and a meeting room to rent. The later pictures were taken on an Open Doors Day visit in September 2018.
