Courtenay Terrace, Kingsway, Hove
On the right are Courtenay House, Courtenay Tye, Courtenay Beach and Courtenay Lodge which were built in the 1840s. On the far left is Little Courtenay that was built in 1899 on the site of western end of Mills terrace. Between them is Courtenay Towers and Courtenayside which were originally a single building called Hove Lea that was constructed in 1875 and divided and largely rebuilt in 1933. The terrace originally came with a private beach to the south but this was compulsory purchased by the council in 1908 in order to carry out sea defence work. See TQ2804 : Courtenay Terrace, Kingsway, Hove for a view from the south.
