The 2017 First Class season is due to begin on 28 March, when Cambridge MCCU will host Nottinghamshire. This is part of the England & Wales Cricket Board's master plan to turn three- and four-day cricket into a winter sport. The view is from the alley between the Fenner's Lawn flats (left, on the site of the old pavilion) and the new Hughes Hall buildings.
This is Fitzwilliam Street, in Little St Mary's parish. Probably its most famous resident was Charles Darwin, who lodged here while studying at Christ's College (1828-1831). Darwin's mentor, the Professor of Botany John Stevens Henslow, was a curate at Little St Mary's.
