Looking from the bridleway that crosses the course, along one of the fairways towards the clubhouse. Founded in 1923, Temple Newsam golf course was designed by Alistair Mackenzie (who also designed the Augusta National where the US Masters is held).
Temple Newsam

A large country estate a few miles east of the city of Leeds, Temple Newsam dates back to Norman times and took its name from ownership by the Knights Templar in the 12th century. After a complex history (see Wikipedia etc. for more details) it is now owned by Leeds City Council. There is a charge for entry to the house and educational farm, but the extensive grounds, mostly landscaped by 'Capability' Brown, are free to use and are crossed by several public footpaths.

The house itself is listed grade 1, the stable block grade 2* and several other features grade 2; the park as a whole is listed under "parks and gardens".
