Grove Rake Mine, Rookhope
In a former lead mining area, this mine was worked by Weardale Minerals up to the late 1990s for fluorspar.

Update 2024: this site is now a mere fraction of what is shown here, shortly after the mine closed. The right side pit head gear has gone and the remaining gear has been sealed off with steel fence to stop theft of the remains, and possibly a preservation order is in force. The stone building to the right side has also disappeared but reveals a steel gate into a very wet tunnel under the bankside. Another building, possibly a single-storey office block, was burned out by vandals, and that has also disappeared.
