SN9962 : Argoed Mill: the old post office

taken 7 years ago, near to Llanwrthwl, Powys, Wales

Argoed Mill: the old post office
Argoed Mill: the old post office
Set back a short distance along a driveway from the main A470, this unassuming house is a former post office, as signified by the postbox (still operational) in the wall. There was a post office at Argoed Mill from 1906 and it closed on 24 April 2001.

The nearest post office now is at Doldowlod (see SN9763 : Doldowlod: the post office and postbox № LD1 163), about a mile northbound on the A470, which opened in 1998 - replacing an office at Llanwrthwl, the next village along.
