The plant > Link would appear to still be under construction and is described as a 44.2MW straw fire power station. The project was developed through a joint venture between Eco2 and Iceni Energy Limited and in 2014 was sold to a joint venture BWSC PCL–collaboration between Burmeister & Wain Scandinavian Contractor A/S (BWSC) and PensionDanmark in a £160m deal. Construction work started in early 2015 and the plant is expected to be operational by Spring 2017.

The developers have claimed that the 44.2MW biomass burner will have sufficient capacity for generating energy for 82,000 homes. 250,000 tonnes of baled straw per year will provide the fuel, which is said to give arable farmers a guaranteed buyer for their by-product over a 12-year contract period. Concerns have, however, already been raised according to which the tonnage required by such plants across the region could reduce the availability of straw needed as bedding for livestock and why the production of straw is going to be permitted knowing it is to be burned, but the companies behind the project say they are convinced that there is enough surplus straw for the plant (as they will be making the money they would hardly say otherwise). Straw-fired plants are already in operation near Ely in Cambridgeshire and Sleaford in Lincolnshire.
