Mound at Little Moreton Hall
Mound at Little Moreton Hall
Looking out across the moat to the south-west mound, one of two at the property. Pevsner, who visited in 1971, states that their purpose is unknown and suggests that they may have been "simply gardening features of the 16th century", but they may have been heaps of spoil from the excavation of the moat used as lookouts to enable the Moretons to gaze over their lands stretching away over the flat countryside.
