The River Greta passes under a natural rock bridge, formed by an intrusion of limestone. It carries the Pennine Way National Trail these days, and was used as part of a drove road in the distant past.
There are several examples of these features in the northern hills and dales - God's Bridge being the chosen name of a fair selection of them.
