Morecambe Promenade from the air
Morecambe Promenade from the air
There are essentially 2 gridsquares in this view from Spring 1982: SD4264 in the foreground with SD4364 beyond. However, the view extends as far as SD4666.
In the foreground (from left) are the Stone Jetty with Marineland dolphinarium (since demolished), the Midland Hotel, Morecambe Promenade station (retained but platforms since demolished), Fahys garage (since demolished), the Empire buildings (since demolished) and the fairground (since demolished). Beyond the Midland Hotel are Bubbles swimming pool and the Superdome (both since demolished).
Further on, the Central Pier was demolished in 1992.
On the extreme right on the fairground is a controversial and short-lived big wheel.
