Intake Weir for Glen Loth Hydro Scheme, Sutherland
This intake weir in Glen Loth, situated just below the confluence of the Sletdale Burn and Loth Burn, extracts water for the Glen Loth Hydro Scheme. The extracted water is conveyed via 2.75km of 1m diameter pipe to a 500kW capacity turbine at the bottom of the glen. This type of hydroelectric arrangement is known as a run of the river hydro scheme.
