Rochdale Memorial gardens, together with the War Memorial SD8913 : Rochdale War Memorial, occupy the site of the old Manor House which was demolished in 1922. Rochdale Council purchased the site from private ownership in 1921.

As a stone memorial SD8913 : Lancashire Fusiliers memorial in the walls records, Rochdale Memorial Gardens are dedicated to the memory of all members of the XX Lancashire Fusiliers.
