Dingestow Court
Dingestow Court
Tree felling in Bourne Wood on high ground to the south-east has opened up this view of Dingestow Court. The origins of the house date from the year 1600 when it was built for the Jones family. The house was rebuilt in the late 18th century by James Duberley. The south Elizabethan-style front was added in 1845-6 by Lewis Villiamy.
In 1859, Prichard and Seddon prepared designs for an Elizabethan-style north front, though they only built the south-west extension and the stable block. The house was bought by Samuel Bosanquet in 1801, and today this private house is still owned by the same family. The gardens open to the public occasionally.
