SW6739 : Pascoe's Shaft Winding Engine House

Pascoe's Shaft Winding Engine House
Pascoe's Shaft Winding Engine House
This engine house contained a 30 inch winding engine mainly used for hauling ore out of the mine shaft. The ivy covered wall on the left is the remains of the boiler house. This is unusual. The boiler houses rarely survive as they were built of a much less solid construction. Usually you have to look for remains of the walls on the ground or the traces on the wall of the engine house where the boiler house roof was attached.
