Barton Haven, Barton-upon-Humber, Lincolnshire
Barton Haven is a late Anglo-Saxon artificial harbour, created to provide a reliable deep-water port for northern Lincolnshire on the Humber estuary. It extends south, parallel with Waterside Road, to the present-day railway station. Commercial traffic on the haven ceased circa 1981 consequential of the opening of the Humber Bridge. Today, the haven is predominantly utilised by pleasure craft. It is unnavigable south of the footbridge across the haven, opened 2003.
