There are numerous interesting trees in the grounds surrounding Goodwood House. Two particularly large specimens are seen here, one in front of the other. The nearer tree is an ancient Spanish (or Sweet) Chestnut (Castanea sativa), which although bereft of leaves, is still alive judging by the new growth that could be seen when closer to it.
Behind it is a might Holm (or Evergreen) Oak (Quercus ilex), of which there is no doubt of its vitality.
