Etal Castle
Etal Castle
Built around 1341, Etal Castle is a Grade I listed building situated in the lovely village of Etal . It was captured by James IV's invading Scots army in 1513 but was taken back by the English after the battle of Flodden. It was abandoned as a military fortification after 1603 and subsequently fell into disrepair. The photograph shows the two main surviving parts of the castle, the Tower House (left) and the Gatehouse (right).
