Poltross Burn Milecastle
Poltross Burn Milecastle
Hadrian's Wall was planned as a continuous wall with a milecastle every Roman mile (1.48 kilometres) and two turrets equally spaced between each milecastle. Known locally as the King's Stables, Poltross Burn Milecastle is one of the best-preserved milecastles on Hadrian's Wall and is also unusually large.
