Iona Abbey
Iona Abbey
A religious site since the time of St Columba who arrived on Iona in 563. The current building has 13th Century origins although largely dates from around 1500 but fell into disrepair after the Scottish Reformation in the 16th Century. Restoration took place in the early 20th Century and more extensively from 1938 onwards along with the other buildings around, under the auspices of the Iona Community.
