Carlisle Archive Centre & Lady Gillford's House
Cumbria County Council, with assistance from the Heritage Lottery Fund, did a great job redeveloping this former factory site at Petteril Bank. The purpose-built archive centre opened to the public in 2011. It is attached to the side of the Grade II* listed mansion, which was restored after being boarded up for several years (see photo 2009 Link ).
Carlisle Registration Office relocated here from its old premises in town (photo Link ), and weddings have been conducted in Lady Gillford's House since 2012.
