Lancashire Yorkshire mosaic
The mosaic at Hindley Station depicting the Lancashire and Yorkshire Railway 1847 - 1921 is made from tiles that were found buried in the ground.
Hindley Station
The station was opened in 1848 on the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway's line from Bolton to Wigan. It originally had four platforms but it was reduced to two in the 1960s. The entrance is on Ladies Lane.

Hindley Station is exceptionally well cared for by the Friends of Hindley Station LinkExternal link which was formed in 2007. They have created gardens and installed a number of artworks including murals created in conjunction with local schools.
