Mystery plant at Crowmarsh Farm
This plant looked quite invasive and was growing strongly along side the barn in Link . It was about 8 feet tall and the flower panicles were nearly a foot long. This shows the maturing seed pods which turn a dark red when ripe. There are some late flowers at the bottom of the picture. It looks as if it's Pokeweed/Phytolacca americana. Link
(Archive Link
) It appears to be a garden escapee as it was introduced from America in 1768. There is some excellent information here Link
including medical uses and related research.
