Stag Headed Oak on the road to Acorn Hill
Oak trees are one of the longest living deciduous trees in Europe. As they age so they loose some of their vigour, dying back whilst maintaining their core strength; this is called stag heading due to its resemblance to deer antlers. This tree will continue to be part of the landscape for many years to come if it is left alone.
