Salford Crescent Station opened in 1987. It is one of two railway stations in Salford, the other being Salford Central.
The station consists of a single island platform with a ticket office and waiting room. It is also signposted as "For University of Salford", as the station is located in between the University's Peel Park Campus and the Frederick Road Campus.
Salford Crescent is on two main rail lines. It forms the point of a split in the Manchester-Preston Line, with local services running on to Manchester Victoria and long-distance services going to Manchester Piccadilly. It is also part of the line between Manchester and Southport. Due to its location it is frequently used as an interchange between the two lines.
All that is left of this church is the spire. There is reference to this fact here but without giving a reason. The remnants do not appear to be listed. Does anyone know why the rest of the church was demolished? The only reason that occurs to me is that it was for a road scheme.
