The Sugar Mill, Prince's Dock Street, Hull
Grade II Listed former warehouse dated 1831. Pevsner informs us that in Posterngate it adjoins a 'bonded warehouse built 1876 by William Botterill for a wine merchant'. The listing suggests the rear block on Dagger Lane is from about 1840. Wilberforce Warehouses as they were known had not been used since 1957 and were derelict with no roof. Local businessman, Francis Daly restored the buildings and opened the Waterfront Hotel and Club in 1978. The upper floors were gutted by fire in May 1996 but it was again rebuilt and carried on until The Sugar Mill opened its doors in June of 2007 after another major refurbishment. In August 2017 HullLive reported that the Sugar Mill night club will be closing to make way for a super club called ATIK. Following a £1.1m refurbishment it reopened on 15th September 2017.
