Hednesford Hills :: SK0012
Hednesford Hills was given to the local council by the Marquess of Anglesey in 1933; in 1981 much of the site became common land and it achieved local nature reserve status in 1992. The sand and gravel soils make the land unsuitable for growing crops but centuries of tree harvesting and grazing has produced an open heathland landscape with small areas of woodland and scattered trees.
