The lines on the wall outside this well-known pub on Alma Street indicate the flood levels in 2007 and 1864. In June 2007, two months prior to this photograph, when the River Don burst its banks following a day of exceptionally heavy rain, there was widespread serious flooding throughout Yorkshire. The pub was closed for a short period and reopened with the 'Floody Hell' beer festival.
