Driving Floor, CD Engine House at Claymills Victorian Pumping Station
The main pumping plant at Claymills consists of four Woolf compound, rotative, beam pumping engines built in 1885 by Gimson and Company of Leicester. They are labelled A, B, C and D and are arranged in mirror image pairs, in two separate engine houses. This is a view of the driving floor in the engine house containing C and D engines. Currently, both C and D engines are able to run under steam.
Claymills Victorian Pumping Station

Claymills Pumping Station is a former steam-powered, sewage pumping station on the north side of Burton upon Trent, now restored as a museum and visitor attraction. It was built between 1884 and 1886 and used to pump sewage caused by the brewing industry in Burton-upon-Trent to the sewage farm at Egginton. It is designated as a Grade II* listed building (Historic England List entry Number: 1038427 LinkExternal link ); one of only three pumping stations of this size and completeness to survive in England.
