Kilmalid bottling and blending plant
The blending plant built by Hiram Walker (Scotland) at Kilmalid, near Dumbarton, opened in 1977, and was said to be the most advanced in Europe. A few years later, a bottling plant was also built here; it went into operation in August 1982. Later, after various takeovers and mergers, the company operating the site was called Chivas Brothers (part of Pernod Ricard). Towards the end of 2016, Chivas Brothers announced that it was closing its operations at Paisley, but investing in an expansion of the Kilmalid site; jobs from Paisley were to be transferred there. It was intended that the expansion work at Kilmalid be completed in 2019.
