Castle Dairy, located in Wildman Street, is a former farmhouse dating from the 14th century. It is Grade I listed - for architectural details, see Images of England LinkExternal link .
The building was restored in 2011, becoming a fine-dining restaurant and training centre for catering and hospitality apprentices from Kendal College.
In December 2015 the restaurant was a casualty of flooding caused by Storm Desmond. After a lengthy drying out period necessitated by the historic building materials, the refurbished restaurant reopened in May 2017 (Castle Dairy website LinkExternal link ).
