Dry-stone wall on high ground near Glen Fruin
Dry-stone wall on high ground near Glen Fruin
The line of the wall (and accompanying fence) is marked on the 1:25000 map. The contour lines show that the wall is higher just ahead than it is immediately to either side (although it does rise higher if followed further to the south-west).

For a view to the left (north-east) along the line of the wall from the high point just ahead, see NS2887 : Dry-stone wall above Glen Fruin.

From that spot there is a good view of the south-eastern end of Glen Fruin.

The green hills to the left are at c.NS3287, at and near Shantron Hill. A little nearer, on the right, is the high ground in NS2986.

Immediately behind the high point of the wall (which is near the centre of the picture) are two areas of woodland, one behind the other: the nearer is centred on NS30758675, and the other on NS31388642.

A small part of Loch Lomond is visible behind them. On the right, the dark wooded slopes on the near side of the loch are on Bannachra Muir (c.NS3383).

Placed centrally, just behind the visible part of Loch Lomond, are some more dark, wooded, low, spreading hills: Knockour Hill and Whinny Hill (c.NS3984).

Finally, a small notch in the central part of the distant skyline hills is a gap between the edge (NS5680) of the Campsie Hills, on the left, and Auchineden Hill (NS4980) on the right.
