On the wall on the left here, Link the plaque is number 6 on the Aneurin Bevan Heritage Trail. The plaque states
Formerly Tredegar Park Cottage Hospital, it opened in 1904 on landed gifted by Lord Tredegar and paid for by the weekly half-pennies of the workers supporting the Medical Aid Society. Funds increased as did the Society membership, and were augmented by the Tredegar Iron and Coal Co and private donations. Bevan, a former Chairman, launched the NHS (1948) knowing that his own town had met model standards.
