Raising of LT Landfall 2014
Raising of LT Landfall 2014
The picture shows the LCT Landfall being raised by Mersey Mammoth Crane in East Float Dock, Wirral on 18 Oct 2014. The Landfall, which is the only surviving LCT which participated in Operation Neptune, had been submerged for several years. She was first brought to the surface using orange buoyancy aids - shown in picture - then lifted to float unaided by the crane. She was then taken by barge down to Portsmouth where she awaits restoration.
