The electrification of the main railway line from London Paddington to Bristol is, like most such ambitious projects, considerably behind its original schedule and hugely more expensive than originally estimated. When it might reach Bath & Bristol is unknown (this section seems to be postponed at present) but electrification is likely to reach Swindon, at least, in the not too distant future. This compound is used by the contractors involved in the scheme. It is on the site of the access road to the former Challow Station and probably on some of the station's site.
