Southampton Western Docks, Quayside and Solent Mills
Solent Flour Mills were built by Joseph Rank, the founder of Rank Hovis McDougall and were completed 1934. The complex was the first building constructed on the Southern Railway New Docks estate, 200 acres of reclaimed land, set aside for industrial development that was to establish Southampton as a major centre of industry.
