TM0855 : Lower end of former Needham Lock

taken 7 years ago, near to Needham Market, Suffolk, England

Lower end of former Needham Lock
Lower end of former Needham Lock
A former lock on the Ipswich and Stowmarket Navigation, which closed formally in the 1930s, although only the lower part, well below here, had been used latterly. There is now a simple weir where the lower gates were, seen here, and a tilting weir of lesser fall at the upper end.
