The Shepherds Call
The Shepherds Call
The Shepherds Call was a beerhouse established before 1869 and until 1874 was kept by John Fowley. It was used by farmers and shepherds from Werneth Low and surrounding areas who would walk down to the inn with their dogs for a drink and a natter. In 1891 it had stabling for three horses but no other accommodation and was tied house belonging to Reddish brewer Richard Clarke. It gained a full licence in 1961 and a year later became a Boddingtons pub and then later a Greenalls SJ9594 : Greenall's Est 1762. In 2016 it was bought by the Punch Group, underwent restoration and has reopened under new management.
