Link is surrounded by 130 acres of woodland and fen, one of the last tidal marshes of the Yare Valley and an area that is now recognised as a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Wheatfen is now managed by the Ted Ellis Trust as a nature reserve, consisting of open fen, reed beds, sallow carr and the small broads Wheatfen and Deep Waters.
