Sollers Hope church
Sollers Hope church
This building is a 14th Century restoration of a Saxon church and was dedicated to St Michael in the late 1300s. According to a notice displayed in the church, the land it stands on was owned by the Whittington family (Dick Whittington, Lord Mayor of London and famous pantomime, was a member) and the church's restoration was reputedly financed by Dick Whittington's older brother. Apparently, financing the restoration of a church does not make as good a pantomime as unexpectedly becoming Lord Mayor of London with your cat.
