Lath Mansion, 15 Nelson Street, King's Lynn
Lath Mansion, 15 Nelson Street, King's Lynn
Grade II* Listed 17th century house re-fronted about 1740. Occupied by Health Authority until 1989. The listing includes number 17, part of the premises since 19th century (out of view left). Nelson Street was formerly Lath(e) Street. There is a letter that states that house was built by Charles Brown 1673 to 1784 and has cellars extending to South Quay and remains of a cut-down tower. The plaque informs us "The home of the 'Samuel' Browne dynasty of merchants who lived and ran their business from here for a century up to 1784. The building dates from the 17th century and was refronted c.1730."
