NT2475 : Sundial at Inverleith House

taken 1 year ago, near to Edinburgh, Great Britain

Sundial at Inverleith House
Sundial at Inverleith House
Created in 1975 by Ian Hamilton Finlay [LinkExternal link] with Michael Harvey [a letter designer and cutter LinkExternal link], on loan from the National Galleries of Scotland. Photographed at 1423 BST, so accurate to about half an hour at any season. I would have thought the shadow was of the metal [probably not bronze] gnomon, cast by the sun on to the slate 'face', so I am unclear as to what the artists meant.
