Growing in ungrazed, unmown grass on Denbies hillside.

Darting about nearby was a humming-bird hawkmoth, a species I hadn't seen in this country for many, many years. We used to see them on summer evenings in Wimbledon Park, near my childhood home - but that was more than half a century ago. On this occasion the hawkmoth proved impossible to photograph (far too restless) - but I'll live in hope . . .
