Humber Dock, was the second of Hullís docks to be opened, in 1809, Railway Dock was the fourth, opened 37 years later in 1846. Both docks were closed to commercial traffic in the late 60's and fell into disrepair until the redevelopment of the area to create the Hull Marina Archive LinkExternal link (Hull City Council - archived link).

The Humber Dock, the lock at its entrance and the two swing bridges which cross the lock are Grade II listed as a group (List entry Number: 1197718 LinkExternal link Historic England).
